The Best Snacks to Satisfy Your Period Cravings This V-Day

Laylah Funk

Being on your period on Valentine’s Day definitely isn’t ideal, but if you’re like me, you’ve learned to roll with the punches with some of the best kitchen staples to satisfy your cravings. Whether you’re sharing a meal with your favorite person, indulging in your favorite snacks with your galentines, or treating yourself to a relaxing night in, these period-approved snacks will have you completely satisfied this V-Day.

  • Heart-shaped pizzas.
  • So cheesy (ha ha), but soooo good. There are few instances where I’m not craving pizza… But to get a heart-shaped pizza while I’m on my period? That would literally change the game for me.

Let’s be real, when you’re on your period, you just don’t have the energy to put together a crafted, well-balanced meal with fresh ingredients you just bought from your local market. You just don’t. So unless you’re dating a chef that’s spending hours whipping together your favorite dish, a cute AF heart-shaped pizza is probably the better option to satisfy your appetite. (But if you are dating a chef that’s making you a home-cooked 5-course meal, congrats. You get that on Amazon?)

There are a bunch of pizza chains that offer heart-shaped pizzas on Valentine’s Day—but I always think it’s more fun to look up what your local pizza joint is offering (trust me, you’d be surprised)! Also, don’t let anyone try to tell you that pizza can’t be a balanced meal. Throw some protein and a veggie on there and call it a day.

  • Dark-chocolate roses.
  • Craving chocolate when you’re on your period is a tale as old as time, and it might be for good reason! Not only does dark chocolate have enough antioxidants to at least make us feel good about our moment of indulging in sugar, but it’s high potassium content can actually help with muscle function (which means period cramps are a little more bearable). You don’t have to tell me twice. I’ll take any excuse to lean into the lovey-dovey Valentine’s Day trends—chocolate roses included.

  • Chocolate-covered strawberries.
  • Alright, you already know why you ~need~ chocolate if you’re on your period this Valentine’s Day (or in general, honestly)—but hear me out while I state my case for strawberries.

Strawberries are jam-packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are perfect for balancing out the hormonal changes you experience when you’re on your period. Plus, they just totally fit the Valentine’s Day vibe. Go ahead and dip them in your favorite melted chocolate for a sweet treat that’ll always satisfy your sweet tooth.

  • Alllll the heart-shaped sweets.
  • I’m talking cookies, gummies, candy hearts—whatever your favorite sugary snack is, indulge. I don’t really have a huge argument for advocating for these sweet treats other than they make you feel good, and that should be reason enough. Food is more than just fuel—it’s memories and experiences and comfort and safety and fun and love—and that’s everything you need this Valentine’s Day. Plus, who doesn’t want to share heart-shaped sweets with their favorite person?!
